Are you trained in ACT and are interested in further developing your couples practice?
Would you like to discover how attachment-informed strategies can supercharge your ACT work with couples?
Are you an EFT therapist and are looking to broaden your interventions with mindfulness and acceptance strategies?
This workshop may be for you!
We are ACT clinicians who love working with couples. Over the years, we have found that using an approach informed by attachment theory when working with couples has made our ACT work with couples more effective. EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for couples is a well-validated attachment-based approach that focuses on attachment needs and connection and has been influential in our work.
This is a couples workshop for mental health professionals that will teach you how to integrate ACT and the matrix with attachment-informed strategies in a way that can help your couples understand their distress through the lens of psychological flexibility and recognize their negative cycles and stuck loops as their enemy. Using a combination of mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies along with focusing our work around deeper emotional vulnerabilities and attachment needs, we have developed an ACT approach that helps couples connect with their relationship values, reconnect with each other even in the presence of discomfort, and become quickly able to act like the partners they want to be, no matter what. This workshop will be based on therapy processes rather than a rigid protocol. You will also walk away with practical tools, specially designed worksheets, and richly illustrated clinical vignettes that can enrich your practice.
We will explore how training psychological flexibility from the perspective of attachment can empower and bring to life your work with couples.
